Should a fantasy sports commissioner veto a technically legal trade that is clearly lopsided?

I have been running and mediating fantasy sports leagues for over twenty years. Every season, without fail, some version of this question lands in my inbox. Two managers agree on a trade. Player A gets a top-ten running back. Player B gets a backup offensive lineman and a future third-round pick. No rule was broken. No collusion is evident. But everyone in the league knows the trade is a heist, and the commissioner has the power to stop it. The written rules only say trades should be "fair." That word is a trap. Fair to whom? By what measure? One manager is a veteran who knows how to exploit a rookie's inexperience. The other is fifteen years old and playing their second season. The trade is legal. It is also absurdly one-sided. The commissioner faces a choice: enforce the letter of the rule or defend its spirit. I lived this one myself. I was running a high-stakes league when I vetoed a trade that was technically clean but obviously predatory. Half the league quit. The other half said I saved it. The question wrecked friendships and splintered that league. This is not an abstract debate for me. It is the single most divisive question in fantasy sports, and every commissioner I know has lost sleep over it. I want the jury to weigh in.
